Says she was gropped in Anarkali Bazaar of Lahore while she was in a veil
The #Metoo campaign set off by singer Meesha Shafi has led to revelations by many other women on how they have been sexually harassed at some point in their lives.
In the same series of #Metoo tweets, actress Armeena Khan shares her experience when she was harassed at a public place.
The actress says that she was in Anarkali Bazaar of Lahore in a veil, when nobody knew who she was. “I literally had my backside groped and breasts grabbed. Not by one guy but by two. Now, my family saw that and I asked them why? I was told it was a really common thing there.
Did I deserve that?” she said.
The campaign gained momentum in pakistan after renowned actress, model and singer Meesha Shafi accused fellow singer Ali Zafar of sexual harassment on micro-blogging website Twitter on Thursday. Meesha Shafi said, “I have been subjected, on more than one occasion, to sexual harassment of physical nature at the hands of a colleague from my industry: Ali Zafar.”
Meesha said that she is sharing this because she believes that by speaking out about her own experience of sexual harassment, she will break the culture of silence that permeates through our society.
Following this, other celebrities, including Momina Mustehsan, came out to share her experience of being sexually harassed.
